1(102) A Prayer for the Poor; when he is deeply afflicted, and pours out his supplication before the Lord. Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come to you.
1A Psalm by David. I will sing of loving kindness and justice. To you, Yahweh, I will sing praises.
2Turn not away your face from me: in the day [when] I am afflicted, incline your ear to me: in the day [when] I shall call upon you, speedily hear me.
2I will be careful to live a blameless life. When will you come to me? I will walk within my house with a blameless heart.
3For my days have vanished like smoke, and my bones have been parched like a stick.
3I will set no vile thing before my eyes. I hate the deeds of faithless men. They will not cling to me.
4I am blighted like grass, and my heart is dried up; for I have forgotten to eat my bread.
4A perverse heart will be far from me. I will have nothing to do with evil.
5By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bone has cleaved to my flesh.
5I will silence whoever secretly slanders his neighbor. I won’t tolerate one who is arrogant and conceited.
6I have become like a pelican of the wilderness;
6My eyes will be on the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. He who walks in a perfect way, he will serve me.
7I have become like an owl in a ruined house. I have watched, and am become as a sparrow dwelling alone on a roof.
7He who practices deceit won’t dwell within my house. He who speaks falsehood won’t be established before my eyes.
8All the day long my enemies have reproached me; and they that praised me have sworn against me.
8Morning by morning, I will destroy all the wicked of the land, to cut off all the workers of iniquity from Yahweh’s city.
