1(128) A Song of Degrees. Blessed are all they that fear the Lord; who walk in his ways.
1Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2You shall eat the labors of your hands: blessed are you, and it shall be well with you.
2It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
3Your wife shall be as a fruitful vine on the sides of your house: your children as young olive-plants round about your table.
3Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4Behold, thus shall the man be blessed that fears the Lord.
4As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5May the Lord bless you out of Sion; and may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
5Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
