1(24) A Psalm for David on the first day of the week. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof; the world, and all that dwell in it.
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2He has founded it upon the seas, and prepared it upon the rivers.
2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3Who shall go up to the mountain of the Lord, and who shall stand in his holy place?
3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4He that is innocent in his hands and pure in his heart; who has not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbor.
4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, and mercy from God his Saviour.
5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek the face of the God of Jacob. Pause.
6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
