1(70) For the end, by David for a remembrance, that the Lord may save me. Draw near, O God, to my help.
1For the Chief Musician. To the tune of “Lilies.” By David. Save me, God, for the waters have come up to my neck!
2Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek my soul: let them be turned backward and put to shame, that wish me evil.
2I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold. I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
3Let them that say to me, Aha, aha, be turned back and put to shame immediately.
3I am weary with my crying. My throat is dry. My eyes fail looking for my God.
4Let all that seek you exult and be glad in you: and let those that love your salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
4Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head. Those who want to cut me off, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty. I have to restore what I didn’t take away.
5But I am poor and needy; O God, help me: you are my helper and deliverer, O Lord, delay not.
5God, you know my foolishness. My sins aren’t hidden from you.
