1A Psalm of a Song for the Sabbath-day.
1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2It is a good thing to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to thy name, O thou Most High;
2I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3to proclaim thy mercy in the morning, and thy truth by night,
3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4on a psaltery of ten strings, with a song on the harp.
4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5For thou, O Lord, hast made me glad with thy work: and in the operations of thy hands will I exult.
5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6How have thy works been magnified, O Lord! thy thoughts are very deep.
6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7A foolish man will not know, and a senseless man will not understand this.
7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8When the sinners spring up as the grass, and all the workers of iniquity have watched; [it is] that they may be utterly destroyed for ever.
8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9But thou, O Lord, art most high for ever.
9Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10For, behold, thine enemies shall perish; and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11But my horn shall be exalted as [the horn] of a unicorn; and mine old age with rich mercy.
11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12And mine eye has seen mine enemies, and mine ear shall hear the wicked that rise up against me.
12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13The righteous shall flourish as a palm-tree: he shall be increased as the cedar in Libanus.
13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15Then shall they be increased in a fine old age; and they shall be prosperous; that they may declare
15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16that the Lord my God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him .
16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
