To offend; to make angry, sometimes in a slight degree. It usually expresses less than anger, vex, irritate and provoke. Applied to the Almighty in scripture, it may be considered as equivalent to anger. God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel. Chronicles 21:7.

To disgust; to excite aversion in; as, acrid and rancid substances displease the taste.

To offend; to be disagreeable to. A distorted figure displeases the eye.
