Pertaining to Peru, in South America. Peruvian bark, the bark of the Cinchona, a tree of Peru; called also Jesuits’ bark. The taste is bitter and pungent, and it is used as an astringent and tonic, in cases of debility, and particularly as a febrifuge in intermittents.
