A dying man leans on a staff and worships. That is how your New Testament remembers Jacob: "leaning upon the top of his staff." Now read the same moment in Genesis on your shelf: "Israel bowed himself upon the bed's head." A staff in one testament, a bed in the other, the same word, one letter of difference in how later scribes marked the vowels. The Septuagint read staff. The apostle quoted staff.
