Hebrews 9: The Golden Pot and the Open Door

@sovereignlogos·June 16, 2026
Inside the ark of the covenant, Israel kept a jar of bread, the manna that fell from heaven. Hebrews chapter 9 remembers one detail about that jar your Old Testament left out: the pot was golden. Open Exodus 16 in the Bible on your shelf and the gold is gone. But the Septuagint, the Greek scriptures the apostles carried, says golden, and Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown concede it in nine words: "golden, added in the Septuagint, and sanctioned by Paul." That golden jar sat inside a room so forbidden that one man entered it one day a year, never without blood. In this episode we read Hebrews 9 in full (KJV), then ask the two questions the chapter is built on: what was that closed room saying for all those centuries, and what kind of blood finally opened the door? You will hear why "without shedding of blood is no remission," and why the apostle's word for covenant, diatheke, is a word that only works in Greek, proof, Calvin says, that this letter was never written in Hebrew. The daily line reads one chapter every day: the full chapter aloud first, then what the church has always seen in it. ▶ Read along at: https://sovereignlogos.com ▶ Yesterday (Hebrews 8): https://youtu.be/JqFzsf0vUNA ▶ Subscribe for tomorrow's chapter: @SovereignLogos ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHAT YOU WILL HEAR • The full text of Hebrews 9, every verse, read aloud. • The golden pot of manna: an LXX detail your Old Testament dropped, conceded by the old Protestant commentators themselves. • Why the closed Holiest of all preached a sermon, and what opened it. • "Without shedding of blood is no remission," and the one blood that obtained eternal redemption. • The diatheke argument: covenant and testament in one Greek word, and what Calvin drew from it. • One covenant of grace from Adam: the Old Testament saints entered heaven the same way you do. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ABOUT THIS CHANNEL Sovereign Logos publishes the Septuagint - the Greek Old Testament quoted by Jesus, the apostles, and the early church fathers - as the unadulterated Scripture.
