Our version of Proverbs 3:12 is wrong. Hebrews quotes it "scourgeth every son whom he receiveth," straight from the Septuagint, the Greek Bible the apostles read. Your Old Testament reads "the son in whom he delighteth." Adam Clarke said it plainly: the English is wrong.
