When Rome marched on Jerusalem, the Christians did not take up the sword. The historian Eusebius records that the whole church fled to Pella, beyond the Jordan, by a revelation given before the war, because they understood Hebrews 13: "here have we no continuing city." The temple was finished. They carried the gospel out, and the city fell behind them.
