"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John opens with the exact three words Genesis opens with, on purpose, because before the world was ever made, Christ already was. The old grammarian Marvin Vincent caught it in one line: this beginning had no beginning. And Albert Barnes draws the only conclusion left, that there is just one Being who is uncreated, so the Word must be God. Scripture is His book from its very first words. In this episode we read John 1 in full (KJV), the prologue the whole Bible was waiting to say out loud, then walk its center: the Word who was God before creation, the same Word made flesh without ceasing to be the Word, the God whose essence no eye ever saw and whom the Son alone declares, and the moment John the Baptist answers the priests by quoting Isaiah in the Greek Old Testament the apostles carried, dropping the doubled "highway in the desert" of the later Hebrew.
