1HE that feareth the Lord, wil do good: and he that hathe the knowledge of the Law, wil kepe it sure. 2As an [honorable] mother shal she mete him, and she, as his wife maried of a virgine, wil receiue him. 3With the bread [of life] and vnderstanding shal she fede him, & giue him the water of [wholsome] wisdome to drinke. 4He shal assure him self in her, and shal not be moued, and shal holde him self fast by her, and shal not be confounded. 5She shal exalt him aboue his neighboures, and in the middes of the congregacion shal she open his mouth : [with the spirit of wisdome, and vnderstanding shal she fil him, and clothe him with the garment of glorie.] 6She shal cause him to inherit ioye , & the crowne of gladnes, & an euerlasting name. 7But foolish men wil not take holde vpon her: [but suche as haue vnderstanding, wil mete her:] the sinners shal not se her. 8For she is farre from pride [and disceite,] & men that lie, can not remember her: [but men of trueth shal haunt her , & shal prosper euen vnto the beholding of God.] 9Praise is not semelie in the mouth of the sinner:for that is not sent of the Lord. 10But if praise come of wisdome, [and be plenteous in a faithful mouth] then the Lord wil prosper it. 11Say not thou, It is through the Lord that I turne backe : for thou oghtest not to do the things that he hateth. 12Say not thou, He hathe caused me to erre:for he hathe no nede of the sinful man. 13The Lord hateth all abominacion [of errour: ] and they that feare God, wil loue it. 14He made man from the beginning, and left him in the hand of his counsel, [and gaue him his commandements and precepts.] 15If thou wilt, thou shalt obserue the commandements, and testifie thy good wil. 16He hathe set water and fyre before thee: stretche out thine hand vnto which thou wilt. 17Before man is life and death, [good & euil:] what him liketh, shalbe giuen him. 18For the wisdome of the Lord is great, & he is mightie in power, and beholdeth all things [continually.] 19And the eyes [of the Lord] are vpon them that feare him, and he knoweth all the workes of man. 20He hathe commanded no man to do vngodlie, nether hathe he giuen anie man licence to sinne: [for he desireth not a multitude of infidels, & vnprofitable children.]
