1THe remembrance of Iosias is like the composition of the perfume that is made by the arte of the apothecarie: it is swete as honie in all mouthes, and as musicke at a banket of wine. 2He behaued him self vprightly in the reformacion of the people, and toke away all abominacions of iniquitie. 3He directed his heart vnto the Lord, & in the time of the vngodlie he established religion. 4All, except Dauid and Ezekias, and Iosias, committed wickednes: for euen the Kings of Iuda forsoke the Law of the moste High, and failed. 5Therefore he gaue their horne vnto other, and their honor to a strange nacion. 6He burnt the elect citie of the Sanctuarie, and destroied the stretes thereof according to the prophecie of Ieremias. 7For thei intreated him euil, which neuertheles was a Prophete, sanctified from his mothers wombe, that he might roote out, and afflict, and destroye, and that he might also buyld vp, and plant. 8Ezechiel sawe the glorious vision, which was shewed him vpon the charet of the Cherubims. 9For he made mencion of the enemies vnder the figure of the raine, and directed them that went right, 10And let the bones of the twelue Prophetes florish out of their place, and let their memorie be blessed: for they comforted Iacob, and deliuered them by assured hope. 11How shal we praise Zorobabel, which was as a ring on the right hand! 12So was Iesus also the sonne of Iosedec: these men in their time buylded the house, and set vp the Sanctuarie of the Lord againe, which was prepared for an euerlasting worship. 13And among the elect was Neemias whose renoume is great, which set vp for vs the walles that were fallen, and set vp the gates and the barres, and laied the fundacions of our houses. 14But vpon the earth was no man created like Enoch: for he was taken vp from the earth. 15Nether was there a like man vnto Ioseph the gouernour of his brethren, & the vpholder of his people, whose bones were kept. 16Sem and Seth were in great honour among men: and so was Adam aboue euerie liuing thing in the creacion.
